Spring time at Giardino Agricolo. Characteristic of the Biodynamic/Organic farming, the ground cover is cutivated in order to keep nutrients and moisture in the ground as well as keeping soil erosion away.

Olive Grove from Chrisopigi, Crete. These trees are 200+ years old. Some of their trees are 1000+years old. Note the grass cover, intentionally left there (instead of the traditional way of removing all ground cover through tilling and using chemicals.) This keeps the nutrients, nitrogen and organic matter in the ground, helps keep the natural moisture, reducing need for irrigation and prevents so
